New litter

As the title suggests, I have a new litter of kittens. There are four this time, but my aunt and I split the litter, so that we're each only caring for two at a time. There is a male orange tabby, a male brown tabby, a female brown tabby, and -- everyone's favorite -- a female black calico.

We haven't really named this batch yet, except that we're mostly in agreement that the black calico should be called Harlequin, because her face is split down the middle, black and white, like a harlequin mask.

I was worried for a while, because both of the males got sick. We had unknowingly fed them some rotten milk formula, but fortunately I realised it soon enough that they didn't die, but were just horribly sick for a few days. The brown tabby recovered fairly quickly, but the orange one was sick for a few days longer. He's only just gotten better, but it seems to me that he's made a full recovery now.

Haven't taken any pictures yet. I'll get some and post them later, like last time.
I got to play my cousin's new Wii today (His brother bought it for him, to which almost everyone's response was: "What did you blackmail him with?") We played Brawl for a while, which was pretty fun, but after a while it gets tiresome, playing with my cousin. He's insanely good at it, and I'm really bad at it, and I'm also a sore loser, so I eventually just had to make myself quit playing before I did something I'd regret.

No news on the Chihuahua puppies yet. I don't know if the new litter has been born yet or not.

Photos of True

True and Torte, playing on my chair.

True scratching an itch.
(Mostly says hi!)

Possibly irritated at me for making him sit still and have his picture taken. Either that, or he's just tired. So hard to tell. *laughs*

Side shot of True, nothin' spectacular....

My favorite picture of True, sitting in my chair.

Photos of Torte

Torte in my hand...

...climbing the side of my chair...

...falling asleep in my lap...
(Yes, that is an icky flea on her chest. x_x)

...squished in between the cushions on my chair...
(How can you sleep like that, Tort? *laughs*)

...and lastly, trying to climb the inside of my leg.
(And yeah, this picture was taken upside down.)

Photos of Trey

Just one picture of Trey, sadly, and not a very good one, at that. I missed her ears...and her nose is all dirty. *laughs* It also doesn't show off her signature markings, the three spots on her back. But you have to admit...she has very cute eyes. *smiles*

Photos of Mostly

Kinda too close, and blurry, but oh well. Shows off her facial markings pretty well, I think.

That's actually the back of my leg she's climbing... I had to almost literally bend over backwards to take this photo. *laughs*

Photos of Teeny

Teeny, sitting in the dog's bed. (for some reason the camera tinted the picture red...)

*peers around the corner* Whuzzat?

Sad stuffs today, I'm afraid. . . .

Took the kittens back to the vet today. They all found homes, so I didn't end up getting to keep one, though I really wanted to keep True. . . . And we were just kinda in and out really fast -- dropped them off and left -- so I didn't even really get a chance to say bye to them, which leaves me feeling pretty cruddy. . . . Oh well. *sighs*

Also, a few days ago we received an orange tabby kitten that was probably only a week old, if that. It died yesterday. It wasn't doing well to begin with, so it just couldn't recover, I guess. . . .

On the other hand, I have some more cheerful news: I'm getting a puppy!

See, normally I don't like dogs much, but my mom's co-worker has a step-daughter who raises Chihuahuas, and I've been wanting one for years. Well, this co-worker asked my mom if she wanted a Chihuahua puppy, because his step-daughter had a litter of four. My mom told me about it, and made it quite clear that I could have one if I wanted one -- but only if they were giving them away, and not selling them, since we don't have that kind of money. Well, this was before we found out she raises them, which obviously means she sells them, and it also turned out that all four puppies were spoken for.

However, the step-daughter said that they're expecting another litter of puppies any day now, and because my aunt gave them a Chihuahua before, I can have one of the puppies for free. So yay! I'm getting a puppy! Now if only I can keep from going crazy with impatience as I wait the eight weeks for them to grow old enough to leave their mother. . . . *laughs*

Lastly, I did get some pictures of the kittens; I just need to get them uploaded. I'll post them later, when I'm not feeling quite so lethargic. . . .

Trip to Japan?

My half-brother -- who reads as much manga and watches as much anime as I do, if not more -- called me a while back to ask me if I would be interested in going to Japan with him, and whether I would be able to save up the thousand-some-odd dollars for the plane ticket. Well, seeing as I am currently unemployed, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to scrape the money together, so I was kinda disappointed about it. Also, he was talking about going with a friend -- a guy friend -- and my parents did not like that idea at all.

He called me again today to say that he might be able to get two tickets for six hundred dollars apiece, and wanted to know if I could save up that much. I've been doing odd jobs for my aunts and they've been paying me quite generously, so I think I may be able to save up that much if I work really hard. He also said that the aforementioned friend would not be going, as they apparently did something to upset him -- something they had done before, so my half-brother decided that was the last straw. So I'm really excited about it now, because there seems to be a much greater chance that I'll be able to go.

However, he said he's not sure if he will be able to get those tickets or not, and I also asked him if he could get three tickets, since I'm hoping our brother can come, but he said he'd have to ask the person he's getting the tickets from. I'd like for my big brother to come with us if at all possible, but I'd hate for him to have to save up to pay full price when we're getting bargain tickets.

I have no idea when the trip might be, and no idea where we'd go when we got there, but I'm still really looking forward to it, and hoping our plans don't fizzle as they have done so many times in the past.
